Project background

RealtyAI is a SaaS chat AI powered by GPT-3, that gives real estate agents tailored answers to their questions without manual searches.

My role

As the sole product designer, I took on a comprehensive role in conceptualizing and designing. My responsibilities encompassed every stage of the design process, ensuring a seamless and user-centric experience.

Challenge

How might I create a user-friendly chat AI interface that assists real estate agents in Ontario by providing accurate and concise answers?

Research

Competitive analysis

Differentiation and improvement
Conduct a comprehensive comparative analysis of competitor chat AI platforms.
Features and functionality
Analyze competing solutions, to identify the key features and uncover opportunities for innovation.
Competitive landscape
Identify and analyze existing solutions catering to real estate agents.

Affinity mapping

Using affinity mapping, I organized my findings and identified common features amongst chat AIs. This informed the design decisions for the chat AI's features.

Exploration

Wireframing

These wireframes outlined the digital interface for the chat AI and user interactions. They served as a crucial step to gather client feedback and ensure I was aligned with their expectations and goals for the product.

Challenges and solutions

Challenge #1 differentiating from existing products

In the first iteration, the chat AI resembled ChatGPT's interface too much, which offered little novelty or added value to the user.

Solution #1 research application

The chat AI's interface was reimagined and enhanced by utilizing the research findings to offer a distinctive experience tailored specifically for real estate agents.

Challenge #2 designing innovative features

During user testing, 63% of users found the filter to be too bulky and 30% of users did not see additional value from the design compared to ChatGPT.

Solution #2 redesigning the filter and adding chat log download

Real estate agents can now use the advanced filtering options to ensure more relevant responses. The download feature allows users to store, share, and reference chat logs whenever needed.

Challenge #3 enhancing navigation and search functionality

56% of users mistook the search bar in the navigation as a search feature for the chat AI, without knowing it is a separate feature.

Solution #3 search feature redesigned

The search engine was relocated to its own dedicated page. The flexibility of both a search engine and a chat AI allows users to choose between broader answers via the search engine or more specific responses using the chat AI.

Responsiveness

Mobile design

Creating the mobile design was crucial since our target audience, real estate agents, are often on the go and more likely to access the product on their phones.

Final product

Product demonstration

Watch the video to see RealtyAI in action. Although this design was not implemented due to budget and technological constraints faced by the client, it showcases the result of my design process.
